ABOUT THIS EVENT

Ravel and Kodaly

We are so excited to welcome the principal cellist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for an exhilarating duo recital. The great Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodály’s pioneering work involved visiting remote villages, often with close friend Bela Bartok, and recording folk songs. The duo for violin and cello is a case study in the fusion of classical forms with folk melodies and rhythm with the two instruments being in a constant dialogue.

PROGRAM

Ravel Sonata for Violin and Cello

Kodály Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7
